In the early game, Yukon Brewing took on Pepsi. Defensively solid and first to the ball, Brewing quickly settled into their stride and made Pepsi work hard around the pitch. The Brew took the lead with a fine George Maratos effort and then doubled their lead with a tasty goal by Mark Sebek.

Pepsi seemed up for the second half but a third goal for Yukon Brewing seemed to put the game to bed. Pepsi came to life with two rapid-fire goals from Fabian Glyka and Mehrdad Tigar, however, the old heads in the Brewing defense slowed the game down to a stop, denying Pepsi any chances and allowing Maratos to complete his hat trick. There was a rare Chris Stacey goal, and skipper Mark O Brien got one to ease the Brew to a 6-2 win

Five star Carre blows Driving Force away

Justin Carre had a fine day in front of the net as his five goals ripped apart Driving Force in an impressive 11-3 win for Westmark. Carre was irrepressible, as he passed and moved so well the opposition didn’t have a clue where he might turn up next. He was aided by some indifferent goalkeeping and a high-quality game from Oscar Pacheco-Rodriguez who struck his own hat trick.

This result was a kick in the teeth for Driving Force who had been unbeaten up to that point, Eric Murphy, Myles Dolphin and another sweet goal from Marcelo Gortari, claimed the goals for the Force but they were swept away by a hungry Westmark team who were at the top of their game. Nobody can remember when Gord Barker last got two goals in a game, but he found the net with two nice strikes and an own goal rounded out a great morning for Westmark.

Khalik’s finishing proves too good

In the last game of the day Yukon Info.com had too much class as they beat Klondike Business solutions 8-5 in an entertaining game at the Canada Games Centre. Led by Danny Macdonald, Yukon Info had too many questions for KBS as they scored freely throughout the game. Lethal predator Khalik hit two goals that capped a fine performance from him. Sub players Gord Barker, Jan Aalt van den Hoorn and Brian Fiddler, 2, combined for four goals, with supplementary goals fromMacdonald and Ciaran Conolly.

For Klondike Business Solutions Andy Todd grabbed two, with Nathan Cross, William Nderba and Shawn Fearon getting one apiece, they will be looking for more success this season as they are still winless and at the foot of the league table.
