Oldtimers shake off the holiday rust

Colin Nash roofed a shot with only 3:20 left of the clock to earn Yukon Inn a hard-fought 2-2 tie with Kilrich in Junior Circuit Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action last Sunday at the Canada Games Centre. Tyson Wirth also tallied for the Inn, while Ben Kielb (minus 1 on the night) and Lawrence Ignace replied for Kilrich.

In the other Junior match, CapriCMW held off a furious rally by Firth to hang on to a 5-4 victory. Blayne Mohahan collected a hatty for the winners, and Geordan Clark and Gus Moberg also scored. For Firth, Dustin Heffner smacked home a pair, and Elgin Schwantz and Anthony Grottoli also scored.

In Senior action, Medicine Chest snapped Tim Hortons’ nine-game unbeaten streak with a 4-2 win. Four different snipers did the damage for the Chest – Mark Pike (game-winner, and first goal since, umm, well a real long time), Al Hanson, Dave Bakica and Bruce Demchuk. Tims tallies came from Mike Blower and Greg Lane.

And EDI got four goals from Jeff Jensen as they outscored Air North 7-3. Tim Turner-Davis, Kevin Neufeld, and Rick Moses also lit the lamp in victory. Brent Stokes, John Pereira, and Chris Lane replied for the flyers.
