Chris Nash scored a wrap-around goal with only 48 seconds left in the game to give Kilrich a 5-4 win over AON in Junior Circuit action in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey Thursday night at Takhini Arena. Nash’s goal capped a furious comeback from a 4-1 deficit. Dale Gray chipped in two goals in the win, and singles came from Arlo O’Riordan and Mark King. Blaine Demchuk, Gary McKellar, Geordan Clark and Gus Morberg replied for AON.
The other Junior game saw Firth hang on to defeat Yukon Inn 7-4. Mike Gau lead the blue crew with two goals, and one each came off the sticks of Marcel Barrault, Gerry Brandt, Greg Charlie, Gregor Gabb and Jacob Pokiak. For the Inn, James ‘Turnbull’ Pugsley continued his scoring onslaught with a goal, and others were provided by Scott Olafson, Damon Crosby and speedy Nate Clark.
In Senior Circuit action Wednesday, Rob Clarke closed the hatch on Medicine Chest as he earned the shutout in Air North’s 3-0 win over the Chest. Chris Lane continued his torrid goalscoring pace with a marker, and Dave Wipf and Doug Janzen also scored for the flyers.
In the other Senior match, Rick Smith padded his lead atop the scoring race with a pair of goals to pace EDI to a 5-3 win over Tim Hortons. Laurie Malo added a pair of his own, and Erik von Flotow got the other. For Timmie’s, it was Mike Jim, Mike Sage and Greg Lane pouring in goals.
