Nash brothers snuff Flames in Oldtimers hockey action
Chris and Colin Nash combined for seven points to lead Kilrich to a 10-4 win over the AON Flames on Thursday night as their 2019-20 Whitehorse Oldtimers Hockey League season began.
Chris scored four goals and added an assist, and Colin chipped in a pair of assists to lead the lumbermen. Ron Cruikshank added two goals, and singles came from Elgin Schwantz, Andrew Pothier, John Pereira and Dave White, on a rare successful breakaway. Walt Liley, Blaine Demchuk, Scott Palfreyman and Gary Vantell replied for AON.
In Thursday’s other match, Mike Gau popped a pair to lead Tim Hortons past EDI by a 4-2 score. Gerry Brandt delivered another goal, and team owner Doug Terry added one of his own. For EDI, Laurie Malo returned from a long absence with a goal, and Tim Turner-Davis also scored.
On Wednesday night:
Firth Rangers 6, Medicine Chest 6
Gord Campbell’s off-season condition regime paid off as he netted a hat trick for Firth, Mark King chipped in two goals and Greg Lane got the other. For Medicine Chest, Kirk Price also harvested a hat trick, Derek Bilodeau added two and Ken Vickerman continued his torrid scoring pace from 2018-19 with a marker as well.
Air North 3, Yukon Inn 3
Dave Wipf, Mike Blower and Bernie Adilman scored for Air North. Gord Peterson scored the tying goal on a nifty wrap-around late in the game, and Alfred Feldman and Kerry Pettitt also tallied for the Inn.
