Goaltenders shone during this week’s Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action at Takhini Arena. Mike ‘Fireball’ Hawkins (EDI) and Floyd ‘Georges’ McCormick (Air North) each posted shutouts, and super-sub Colin ‘Turk’ Ruttle was stellar for Kilrich in their victory.

EDI 9, Medicine Chest 0

Hawkins stopped everything, d-man Marcel Barrault was on fire with three goals, Laurie Malo added two goals and four helpers, Rick Smith went two and two, and Gary McKellar and the league’s elder statesman Brian Gudmundson each added one goal.

Air North 6, Tim Hortons 0

Behind McCormick’s shutout, Dave Bakica and Bernie Adilman piloted the Jets to victory with two goals each. Dustin Heffner (three assists) and Mike Blower rounded out the scoring.

Kilrich 3, Yukon Inn 1

Ruttle made several spectacular saves in the win, and Andrew Pothier, Peter Johnston and Chris Nash provided the scoring for Kilrich. Alfred Feldman replied for the Inn.

AON 5, Firth 4

AON scored all their goals in the first period, and then held off a furious Firth rally to triumph in this match. Kevin Johnstone paced the winners with three goals and two assists, Walt Liley added a solo effort, and Lance Bevilacqua contributed a shorthanded tally. Mike Jim netted two for Firth, and solo shots came from Gord Campbell and Mark King.
