Gerry Brandt put three toppings on Kilrich as his Firth Rangers upset the league leaders 7-2 in Junior Circuit action of Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey Thursday night at Takhini Arena. Mike Gau added a pair for Firth in the teams’ playoff preview game, and Peter Johnston and Dustin Heffner added singles. For Kilrich, it was Arlo O’Riordan with both goals.

In the other Junior playoff-preview game, Yukon Inn got their money’s Wirth from Tyson as the Haines Junction product sniped three goals and added two assists in the Inn’s 7-3 victory over CapriCMW. Scott Olafson added two goals in the triumph, and Alfred Feldman and Russ McDiarmid rounded out their scoring. For Capri, it was Geordan Clark with two and Blaine ‘Brad Marsh’ Demchuk with one.

In Senior ‘action’ on Wednesday, goals were hard to come by thanks to two shutouts by stingy goaltenders. Eugene Johnson stopped everything to lead Medicine Chest to a 2-0 win over EDI, and Darryl Cann was flawless as well to pilot Air North past Tim Hortons 4-0.

Ron Cruikshank scored both goals in the Chest’s win; and Adam Green netted two for Air North and Dave Wipf and Chris Lane got the others. Tims’ interim head coach Ron Daub was put on waivers after the game for the purpose of assigning him to the team’s taxi squad.
