Dave Bakica kicked off a most unusual Whitehorse Oldtimers Hockey season with the first goal of the league season as Medicine Chest blanked Air North 3-0 at Takhini Arena on Wednesday night in Senior Circuit action.

Bakica added another goal as well, Martin Lawrie also scored, and Eugene Johnson stopped everything fired at him in net.
Due to Covid-19 regulations, this years oldtimers hockey league is split into older (Senior) and younger (Junior) Circuits, with four teams in each.
In the other Senior game, Kerry Pettitt and Gord Campbell potted a pair each to pace EDI to a 6-3 win over Tim Hortons. Laurie Malo and Bobby ‘Orr’ Allison chipped in one apiece. For Tims, it was Lorne Burnett, Ron Sumanik and Garrett Kuptana with markers.
The Junior Circuit games on Thursday saw Yukon Inn down Firth 5-2, and Kilrich outscore AON 6-4.
Yukon Inn was led by Shawn Kinsella and Colin Nash with two goals each, and a single from Haines Junction import Tyson Wirth. For Firth, it was Greg Charlie and Mike Gau doing the damage.
Arlo O’Riordan led the Kilrich attack with a pair of goals, and others came off the sticks of Chris Nash, Derek Bilodeau, Myles Dolphin and Mark King. AON’s newcomer Gus Morberg recorded the first hat trick of the young season, and Mike Muller ripped home the other AON goal.
Sunday:
Rookie Ian Boyce scored twice to keep Medicine Chest unbeaten early in the Senior Circuit of the Whitehorse Oldtimers Hockey season Sunday night at Takhini Arena. Martin Lawrie added the other to help Medicine Chest win 3-1 to improve their record to 2-0. Gord Campbell replied for EDI.
In the other Senior game, Bernie Adilman netted two, including the game winner with 5:50 on the clock, to lead Tim Hortons to a 4-3 win over Air North. Garrett Kuptana and Jeff Hunston added single goals for the Timbits, and Chris Lane, Sean McLeish and Doug Cote replied for the flyers.
In Junior Circuit action Sunday, Kilrich thumped Firth 8-2 and Yukon Inn tied AON 3-3.
For Kilrich, Myle Dolphin and Ben Kielb hammered home a pair of goals each, and singles came from Chris Nash, Ben Mercier, Sean Booth and Brian Currie. Mike Gau and Greg Charlie replied for Firth.
Alfred Feldman scored with 2:40 left to book the tie for Yukon Inn. James Pugsley and Shawn Kinsella also scored for the Inn. For AON, it was Blaine Demchuk, Gary McKellar and Scott Palfreyman doing the damage.
