Oldtimer hockey action from last week

Myles Dolphin played swimmingly to lead Medicine Chest past Tim Hortons 5-1 in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action Sunday night at Takhini Arena.

Myles Dolphin played swimmingly to lead Medicine Chest past Tim Hortons 5-1 in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action Sunday night at Takhini Arena. Dolphin recorded two goals and two assists to lead the victors, and Ben Campbell, Kirk Price and Bill Cullen added single tallies. Pete Mostyn spoiled the shutout for Tims, as the league marked its halfway point of the season.

Air North 7, EDI 3

Ed Van Randen and Mike Blower were flying, as they each scored twice for the Jets. Dale Gray, Gary Jerome and Dave Wipf rounded out the scoring. For EDI, Steve Fecteau, Rick Smith and Laurie Malo did the damage.

AON 7, Yukon Inn 4

Walt Liley and Scott Palfreyman led the charge for the men in red with two goals each. Blaine Demchuk, Rick Gingell and Mervin Jacobsen added one each. For the Inn, it was Anthony Grottoli, Shawn Kinsella, Greg Charlie and Ben Kielb with goals.

Kilrich 8, Firth 6

Three players had two-goal games for Kilrich – Brian Currie, Peter Johnston and Chris Nash. Travor Willier and Chris Carli added to the total. For Firth, Gord Campbell rifled home two, and solo shots came off the sticks of Greg Lane, Scott Olafson, Mike Jim and Jeff Hunston.

Thursday’s full moon shone bright, straight into the dressing rooms in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action, prompting some feisty behavior in the two games played.

Kilrich 6,EDI 2

Colin Nash forced EDI to extract three pucks from their net off his shots, Chris Carli added two goals, and John Pereira rounded out the scoring for Kilrich. For EDI, it was Tony Clennett and Rick Smith doing the damage.

AON 4, Tim Hortons 4

Walt Liley scored his second goal of the game with 5:31 on the clock to give AON the tie. Mervin Jacobsen and Rick Gingell also scored for the insurance crew. For Tims, Doug Terry dunked a couple of goals, and Mike Gau and Duane Purych poured in one each.

Wednesday

**Yukon Inn 5, Medicine Chest 0

Daryl Cann was stellar in net for the Inn, posting the shutout. Five different skaters netted goals for the winners – Greg Charlie, Anthony Grottoli, Lawrence Ignace, Shawn Kinsella and Martin Lawrie.

Firth 6, Air North 4

Greg Lane scored twice for Firth, and singles came from Tom Ullyett, Mark King, Arlo O’Riordan and Mike Jim. Wynn Griffith tallied two for the Jets, and Dustin Heffner and Russ McDiarmid added one apiece.
