In an explosive start to the over 35’s soccer season, Eric Murphy does what he always does, namely score goals, his hat trick was the difference in a highly entertaining match as Driving Force beat Klondike Business Solutions 7-5.

The game was played at a furious pace with goals scored at regular intervals, Driving Force were first to score and were never behind, but KBS showed their tenacity in clawing themselves back into the game time and again.

However, with the skillful trifecta of Marcelo Goltari, Myles Dolphin and Murphy, goals were never going to be a problem for the Force, and when star man Franklin Fru limped off for KBS, the rest of the team ran out of steam. Other goals for Driving Force came from Dolphin, 2, Goltari, 1, and skipper Ben Mercier, while for KBS Andy Todd got 3, with one apiece for Franklin Fru and Shaun Fearon.

Wasteful Pepsi bow to
Yukon Info

The second game of the morning saw Yukon Info take on Pepsi in another high scoring game. Yukon Info were without their captain Danny Macdonald who is away sunning himself in Greece, but it made little difference as Phil Jackson led the way with a clinical hat trick as Yukon Info ran out 6-3 winners.

The result could have been different for Pepsi if Rob Florkiewicz hadn’t missed a handful of chances, and Jim Brown, with his family watching, could hit the target from 3 yards. Yukon Info’s other scorers were JP Ladroue, Ciran Connolly and Keith Welch, with a smart hat trick from Guliano Rayo the only reply from Pepsi.

Defensive Yukon Brewing gets a lesson in offense

Yukon Brewing skipper Mark O Brien may rue his defence minded drafting strategy as his team struggled to make any real headway against a classy Westmark team.

The new Westmark team, led by Oscar Pachero were all business, as they dismantled Yukon Brewing with their movement and passing. Justin Carre grabbed a couple of goals as they put down a marker of their intent for the season, as Yukon Brewing ran out of ideas quickly and were left chasing shadows. Dale Cheeseman, an own goal and a deadly Doug Hitch strike allowed Westmark to run out 5-1 winners, with only a Mark Sebek goal as a consolation for the Brew.
