Eric Murphy the hot shot striker has been struggling to recreate the form that took him to two golden boot awards, but this weekend he showed why he is one of the most feared players the over 35 soccer league has ever seen. Murphy blew away Yukon Info.com with a hat-trick as his Yukon Brewing team eased to a 6-2 win.

The game was a tight affair in the early part of the game, as Yukon Info buoyed by their performance last week started brightly and traded goals with the Brew. But as the game continued the men in black asserted their dominance opening up the Info defence like a can of beans as they moved toward a comfortable victory.

There were other sub plots going on during the game; CBC duo George Maratos and Leonard Linklater went up against each other and with both players scoring. Bragging rights fell to Linklater as the Brew won the game.

Other scorers for Yukon Brewing were Mark O’brien and Michael Zuccarini, while Graham White got the other goal for Yukon Info.

KBS can’t see the Wood for the trees

Haley’s Comet, a Leaf’s Stanley Cup win and a Scott Wood goal are all rare occurrences but on Saturday at the Canada Games Centre, Wood blasted in a ferocious shot that helped Driving Force to a 3-3 tie against Klondike Business Solutions.

Wood, normally known as creative influence back defender, found himself high up the pitch, when the ball broke to him and he unleashed an unstoppable shot to the delight of the crowd. However, Driving Force were indebted to Charlie Hoeller in the Force net as he pulled off save after save to keep his team in the game. Klondike Business Solutions couldn’t find a way past Hoeller until right at the end of the game when pressure, confusion and luck allowed them to get back on parity with Driving Force.

Wood, Phil Jackson and a fantastic individual goal by Fabian Glyka were Driving Force’s scorers, with Justin Carre (2) and Andy Todd replying for Klondike Business Solutions.
