Jürgen Korn returned to the Whitehorse Rapids Over-35 soccer league on Saturday to assist YukonInfo.com as they tried to find a win, after dropping their last four and falling to last place in the league standings.

The early morning supporters were treated to the trademark storming runs and crunching tackles, there was even a goal thrown in for good measure.

Although Pepsi ran out winners by a score of 5-3, they were pushed all the way by a resilient Yukon Info team, assisted by some canny replacements who really went for the win.

The game was close right to the end, and if there weren’t a couple of simple mistakes made on the Yukon Info side, the result might have been different.

Pepsi were again led superbly by Guliano Rayo, who picked up a couple of goals, with Simon Pulido, Myles Dolphin and Krisztian Goncze scoring the others.

JP Ladroue and David Strachan picked up the other goals for Yukon Info.

With the win, Pepsi continues their unbeaten streak having not lost in their last five games. The win is Pepsi’s ninth of the season as they take on Yukon Brewing next who is coming off their bye week.

Morrison lights the fire

Joe Morrison played like a man possessed as he helped his Tony’s Pizza team to an 8-4 victory over Klondike Business Solutions.

Morrison seemed to be everywhere, hustling attackers, clever interceptions and deft passes as he earned his man of the match award.

The result was never in doubt after Tony’s raced to a quick lead.

From there, it was a matter of containment from KBS, although the wily Eric Murphy picked up another hat trick for them.

Tony’s put in a real team performance, as Justin Carre (4), Arnold Hedstrom (2), Goher Hafeez and Jim Brown all made the score sheet while Danny Macdonald scored the other KBS goal.

The win for Tony’s moves them to within one point of KBS with only four rounds of games left.

Yukon Info and Yukon Brewing are battling it out at the basement, while Pepsi’s win stretches their lead at the top of the table.

In the second game on Saturday, both KBS and Yukon Info will look to get back in the win column.
