The over 35’s soccer league contined on Saturday at the Canada Games Centre.

Shawn Fearon is one of the most underrated players in the over 35’s soccer league, he quietly goes about his business, but his value to his team is priceless.

In a game that was very tight early on, his lung-busting run to get on the end of Yukon Brewing attack was breath-taking as he slotted home the opening goal. That put Klondike Business Solutions on the back foot, and to try and chase the game. Which they did valiantly until Keith MacGuire raced the length of the pitch and smashed the ball into the top corner of the goal.

From then on, the KBS attacks became more and more desperate, but Stephen Doyle in the Brew net was equal to everything they could throw at him, wave after wave of shot were pushed away, until the only way past him was a deflected own goal.

Yukon Brewing allowed KBS to have the ball, but every time they made a mistake the men in black poured forward allowing Fearon to score his second and Eric Murphy to increase his lead in the golden boot race leaving the game a 4-1 victory to the Brew.

Yukon Info.com torment Pepsi

Yukon Info.com lifted themselves off the bottom of the league with a chaotic win over Pepsi.

This was a very open game with a number of open goals missed. The biggest culprits were John Macphail and Rob ‘the Doc Bousquet as both teams looked like they would score when they reached the opponents area. Yukon Info Skipper George Maratos lulled the opposition into a false sense of security with a couple of air shots and miskicks before he connected well to pick a pair of goals to help his team on their way to a 4-2 win.

Jurgen Korn had earlier scored for Pepsi but when Andrejz Jablonski and Mark Sebek scored their first goals of the campaign the Orangemen threatened to run away with the game. However, Pepsi tried to even the game up when arguably the slowest player in the league Jason Steele scored from a powerful drive, but this proved to be false dawn as Yukon Info held on to the win.

Yukon Brewing sits at the top of the table with Pepsi holding second. Yukon Info.Com sits in third, with Klondike Business Solutions and Driving Force close behind.

League games will continue on Saturday at the CGC. Plenty of seats are still available. In the early game Driving Force squares off against Pepsi. Yukon Info.Com will play KBS in the late game. Yukon Brewing will not be able to build upon their league lead as they have a bye week.
