Safe, Fun, Healthy Adventures await all Canadians

Looking for a safe, fun, healthy way to spending the upcoming winter break?

Look no further than your local ski slopes and trails! Looking to go on a road adventure? There are slopes and trails across Canada, each with their own unique characteristics and activities.

Whether you’re staying at home, or travelling within Canada this holiday, skiing and snowboarding are as Canadian as back-bacon and maple syrup.

Every year, thousands of skiers flock to the slopes and trails knowing that skiing is a safe, healthy and fun way to spend time outdoor this holiday and all winter long.

Safe

Skiing is an outdoor sport, so your contact to COVID is reduced simply by being in the great outdoors. Within each province, lodges and resorts are adhering to local public health guidelines to keep everyone safe. Many resorts offer lessons to teach you everything you need to know to get started and stay safe on your adventure.

Healthy

Skiing is a great workout! While it delivers on benefits of cardio exercise, it’s also great at increasing flexibility, strengthening joints and lower body muscles, it improves your balance, increases core strength, and promotes coordination. Plus, being active and outside is a natural mood booster! Need another reason to hit the hills? You’re practically guaranteed to sleep great after a day of fresh air and active runs! (Take note parents!)

Fun

Skiing can be done with friends or family. Whether you choose to travel along a trail or down a slope, it’s fun to be with friends and loved ones and stay connected, especially after the year we’ve had!

While skiing used to have the perception of being an expensive sport, it’s not so. Everyday winter gear can be worn, and the other specific equipment (like a helmet, skis and poles) can be rented. Many resorts and hills offer daily, weekly and seasonal rental rates to lower costs, as well as industry offers, like the Snow Pass, to make it affordable to all. You do not need to break the bank to have fun on skis!

Getting Started

Never strapped on a pair of skis or a snowboard? It’s not hard! Start by visiting the Canadian Ski Council’s website Go Skiing Go Snowboarding https://www.goskiinggosnowboarding.ca. It’s packed with information about what to expect, trail markers, chair lift suggestions, beginner tips, all the details to make your first time at a slope a great experience. Use their interactive guides to get comfortable with what you’ll encounter, and how to make it a great day out.

If you’re looking for a fun, healthy and safe way to enjoy time with friends and family, or just a great activity to pass the time before 2022 starts, skiing is for you!
