Checking in on the past weeks action in the Whitehorse Oldtimers Hockey League.

EDI used a balanced attack Sunday night to defeat Tim Hortons 4-1 for their first victory of the Oldtimers hockey season, at Takhini Arena. Colin Nash, Kerry Pettitt, Chris Lane and Gary Vantell supplied the offence for EDI, while Mike Blower responded for Tim Hortons. In other action Sunday:

Medicine Chest 8 Firth Rangers 1: Scott Palfreyman scored twice for Medicine Chest, and singles came off the sticks of Adam Green, Josh Turcotte, Stu Mackay, Chris Carli, Chris Nash and Marty O’Hagan, and Gord Peterson chipped in three assists. Joel Witten scored Firth’s goal.

Kilrich 5 AON 4: Mark King scored a powerplay goal with 27 seconds left in the game to lead Kilrich to the win. King added another goal, and chipped in two assists, and solo scores came from Brian Currie, Darrell Thompson and Ben Kielb. Rick Smith paced AON with two goals, and Dermot Flynn and Gary McKellar also scored.

Air North 5 Yukon Inn 4: Sean McLeish unleashed two goals for Air North, Gerry Brandt scored the winner with just over three minutes left, and Briar Young and Pete Mostyn added goals. For Yukon Inn, Gord Kuchler, Garrett Zacharias, Kirk Price and Murray Arsenault recorded goals.

Kilrich unbeaten no more: Rick Gingell scored with one second left on the clock to lead the Firth Rangers to a 3-2 win over Kilrich Thursday night, and at the same time ending Kilrich’s unbeaten streak to start the Whitehorse Oldtimer hockey season. Kilrich was undefeated in their first six games of the season before Gingell put that to rest. Peter Johnston and Ron Cruikshank also scored for Firth. For Kilrich, it was Dustin Heffner and Ben Kielb.

In other action Thursday, Yukon Inn bandaged up Medicine Chest by a 5-2 score. Wynn Griffiths potted a pair for Yukon Inn, and Bernie Adilman, Grizz Menzies and Ed van Randen added singles. Chris Nash and Josh Turcotte replied for Medicine Chest.

Air North 7 EDI 3: In Wednesday night action, Mike Gau recorded a hat-trick for Air North, Doug Janzen knuckleballed home a couple, and Pete Mostyn and Gerry Brandt added single goals. Replying for EDI were Colin Nash, Johnny Sembsmoen and Mark Suominen.

AON 2 Yukon Inn 2: In a feisty affair, Rick Smith and Travis Ritchie scored for AON, and Shawn Kinsella and Carl Cibert tallied for Yukon Inn.
