Mushers in the 2020 Yukon Quest 1,000-mile dog sled race began their journey on Saturday in Fairbanks. Locally, Dog Powered Sports Association of Yukon held their second Twister Race of the winter for those mushers that prefer the shorter distances.

The races, held at four-time Quest champions property Hans Gatt, featured two distances.

In the 10-mile race, Mandy Johnson and her team spent just over half an hour on the trail to come in first. A minute and six seconds is all that separated the second-place musher, Armin Johnson, from the top time.

Alex Rochet came third in 33 minutes, 49 seconds.

The skijor mushers also did 10 miles. The three teams on skis all posted similar times but it was Cynthia Criveau, 44 minutes, 32 minutes who came out on top.

Emmalee Agnew, 45:19 and Jackie Taylor, 45:46 came second and third respectively.

The six-mile recreational class was won by Julien Campbell in 20:53. Eva Nielsen was the runner-up and Nadalle Flynn placed third.
