Connolly in the business of breaking hearts

Ciaran Connolly is an all action type of player, you may find him valiantly defending, supporting play or like today, scoring, as he brought his Air North Rangers team back from the brink to secure a share of the points, as Air North matched Yukon Brewing 3-3 in over 35’s soccer action.

The game had a different feel early on as the Brew opened up a 3-0 lead thanks to another great performance from Miles Hume who followed up his four goals last week with another three, and there was Jason Steele, looking like a Greek God with his luscious long mane in defence there only seemed to be one winner.

However, Hume scored into his own net, then loanee Matthius Hartman scored an exceptional goal, throwing Yukon Brewing into disarray, when earlier they were playing some free-flowing soccer, they went into defensive mode and tried to keep Air North at bay. Urged on by Scottish captain Iain Breckenridge, they twisted the screw and looked for an opening, when it did come, Connolly took the opportunity well.

  In Matthias we trust

Matthias Hartman, the first pick in the draft, showed why his captain has so much faith in him with a fabulous all-round performance, and was the difference between the two sides as his Klondike Business Solutions team beat Yukon Info.com 3-1. Hartman seemed to score when he wanted and was a constant thorn in Yukon Info’s side, as he notched three goals. Hartman was adroitly assisted by Nathan Bingham in defence. Bingham looks like a circus strong man, and that was how many opponents felt after feeling the full force of his challenges.

Yukon Info.com came into the game more in the second half when skipper Danny Macdonald scored, but they couldn’t find enough momentum to make the game closer, leaving KBS with their first win of the season.

Understrength Pepsi blown away by Chandler

Scouting report: Mark Chandler is good, very good. This report will be going around to the other teams. In his debut season Chandler took a liking to scoring, as he hit five goals as Driving Force destroyed Pepsi 11-2 in the final game of the morning. Chandler seemed to be everywhere, which was bad news for Pepsi as they had flour players who had already played a game. After Pepsi took the lead it went downhill quickly for them, as they quickly tired and Driving Force took full advantage, scoring goals in bunches leaving Mark O Brien’s men downcast and waiting for the final whistle, and when it did come it was a mercy for all the players.

In net for Driving Force, Thomas Riexinger was able to bring his camping chair as he watched the game develop from the other half. Other scorers for the Force were Craig Caldwell, Shawn Fearon two, Hector Lang two and Justin Carre.

For Pepsi, Danny Macdonald and David Rayo scored.

Yukon Brewing and Air North Rangers are unbeaten at the top of the league with four points each followed by KBS, Pepsi and Driving Force with three, while Danny Macdonald has some thinking to do, if his Yukon Info side are going to make a push for glory.
