The Mountain View Golf Club ended off the 2011 summer with its Closing Scramble on Saturday.
The event, which was open to members and the public, drew 96 players (24 teams of four).
Jeff Wiggins, CPGA head golf professional at Mountain View, called the conditions perfect for the club's end-of-year round.
"The weather was fantastic,” Wiggins said.
The format of the Closing Scramble was an unmodified Texas Scramble. In this format, all players hit a shot, pick the best one and move to that position, repeating the process until the ball is holed out. The winning team – comprised of Lee Hartson, Dan Henry, Jim Sager and Tom Gerrard – shot a 61 (11 under par).
Second place winners – Dan Hogberg, Matt Lafferty, James Edzerza and Vaughn Francis – shot a 62 (10 under par).
The Closing Scramble was created to give everyone, members and guests, and opportunity to play the golf course in great condition before the club closed it down for the season, Wiggins said, adding that everyone had a great time and the club is looking forward to 2012.
