After winning $1 million, Scott and Erin McCarthy of Whitehorse plan to take their kids to Disneyland.

At a press conference held late this morning, the McCarthys said they're going to use a bit of their Set For Life winnings to take their son and daughter to the happiest place on Earth.

'We're going to Disneyland, literally,' Erin said.

McCarthy bought the scratch-and-win ticket at the Copper Ridge Bigway supermarket he manages. He said he 'was really happy' to be a millionaire, but that he still can't believe he won.

'We just feel really lucky, because honestly, in a scratch-and-win game, there's really no skill involved,' said the 33-year-old Scott.

'We're honestly still in shock,' the renowned weightlifter said, adding he has no plans on quitting his job.

The couple was asked the million-dollar question, 'What are you going to do with the money?'

They said the majority of their winnings will go toward their home and an education fund for their children.

'We're going to pay off our mortgage,' Scott said.

'The kids' stuff is the most important,' Erin added.

The couple said the money came as a relief. They had been worrying a lot about where they were going to come up with the money for their son's and daughter's educations.

They said they've had a number of congratulatory phone calls but that have not received any calls from people they don't know they changed their phone number the day they won the big prize.

Scott said he was accompanied by Erin and his children to Alberta earlier this week when he claimed his prize. The family did some celebratory shopping at the West Edmonton Mall.

According to Lotteries Yukon, the McCarthys' winnings represent the largest prize handed out in the Yukon in at least 10 years. It also exceeds the next-highest prize, Lotto 6/49 claimed in 1996, by about $225,000.
