Territorial premiers will discuss matters of mutual interest and concern affecting their jurisdictions at the 10th annual Northern Premiers' Forum to be held in Iqaluit on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Yukon Premier Darrell Pasloski, N.W.T. Premier Bob McLeod and Nunavut Premier Eva Aariak will meet to work collectively on several topics.
Those include health funding, energy and infrastructure, training for the resources industry and circumpolar issues.
"Co-operating with our northern neighbours is a Yukon priority, and I look forward to the meeting with Premiers McLeod and Aariak and working together to continue to improve the quality of life for all northerners,” Pasloski said today.
"A pan-territorial approach is an effective way to address northern issues and opportunities and raise the North's profile nationally and globally.”
The premiers will also discuss ongoing pan-territorial planning and support for the federal government's role as chair of the Arctic Council in 2013.
While in Iqaluit, the premiers will meet with the Canadian Permanent Participants of the Arctic Council to discuss shared interests.
