As excitement builds around the 2014 ISF Junior Men’s World Softball Championship, the local organizing committee continues to secure sponsors for this premier event.

The 2014 Championship will be held July 11 to 20 at the Pepsi Softball Centre in Whitehorse, featuring teams from across the globe.

Whitehorse previously hosted the 2008 Junior Men’s World Championship that saw 12 teams take part, including Australia, Japan, New Zealand, the United States, and Canada. Australia beat Canada to clinch gold in the final.

The teams participating in this year’s event will be confirmed later this month.

“We have some amazing funding partners and local sponsors already on board with this year’s championship, and we are very grateful for their support,” said George Arcand, chair of the 2014 organizing committee.

“Organizing a championship of this calibre takes a lot of hard work and many solid partnerships within the community, so we’re urging more local businesses to get involved and help make this a successful event.”

The organizing committee designed its sponsorship levels to provide opportunity for Yukon companies of all sizes to participate in the 2014 Junior Men’s World Softball Championship.

“These championships contribute to Yukon’s economy and also inspire our local youth and contribute to the development of our softball community,” said Arcand.

“With packed stands at the ballpark and worldwide exposure through live web streaming of games and social media, sponsors will receive invaluable recognition.”

Approximately 200 of the world’s top junior men’s players will converge on the Yukon capital for the 10-day tournament.

Those interested in providing sponsorship are urged to contact Arcand at 334-6185, or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
