A 72-year-old Marsh Lake woman has died after a single-vehicle rollover last week.

A 72-year-old Marsh Lake woman has died after a single-vehicle rollover last week.

Carmacks RCMP said today Renate Leker-McKenna was driving on the Robert Campbell Highway last Thursday with a 67-year-old female passenger on her way to Carmacks.

At about 7 p.m., the driver lost control of the vehicle, near km 563.

Const. Paul Miller told the Star police are not sure how many times the vehicle rolled.

The crash is still under investigation, but speed and alcohol are not believed to have been involved, he said.

Leker-McKenna was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected from the car.

She died at the scene.

The passenger, who was belted in, was taken to the hospital, treated and released.

Her name is not being released by police.

“We want to press upon people the seriousness of wearing your seatbelt, and the implications if you don’t,” Miller said.
