Rendezvous to bring in headline group

Hey Ocean has been added to the Rendezvous At Night line up on Feb. 23, 2013.

Often described as one of Canada’s best up-and-coming acts, Hey Ocean is a young band with a talent for blending various musical styles into a brand of infectious pop that is uniquely their own.

“Continuously leaving fans in awe, Hey Ocean combines sheer talent, charismatic songs, and an undeniably energetic live show, making them a must-see band and a great addition to the Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Festival,” the Rendezvous society said in a statement.

Hey Ocean will also perform at a youth concert on Feb. 22 on the main stage at Shipyards Park.

The concert will offer free admission to all youth aged 14 to 18. Chaperones and security staff will be on site for the event.

“We are very excited to have this band take time out of their tour schedule to join us for the festival,” said society president Marj Eschak.

Who? And until they return Rendevous to Main Street, like it used to be. Then I’ll make sure I don’t waste my time. I’m so tired of people changing everything because their feelings got hurt. Just another southerner at work here folks. Go wreck your town and leave mine alone.

Shipyards blows

I’m with who, I used to get involved in this. Then the CoW herded us like good lil’ piggy banks they think we are… down to their pet project…shipyards. I went the first year it was there…was very sterile not the fun I used to know…I no longer go..at all!
I missed the party on the river days, but enjoyed the community feel when it was downtown, in the stores for a cider etc.
If closing it for commerce is the excuse, it is a poor one. That said if so…let us never have 1st ave closed again for cultural elites.

Well, we have a new mayor, it was switched during the Buckway years, maybe it can go back? Try!
