Oilers edge out Mustangs in recreational hockey league

A couple of goals in the first period and a few more in the second frame helped carry the Envirolube Oilers to a 5-3 victory over the Mic Mac Bantam Mustangs.

A couple of goals in the first period and a few more in the second frame helped carry the Envirolube Oilers to a 5-3 victory over the Mic Mac Bantam Mustangs.

The game was played on Tuesday in the Whitehorse Recreational Hockey League’s B division.

Envirolube Oilers 5, Mic Mac Bantam Mustangs 3

Dave Rach and Geordon Read each scored once in the dying minutes of the first to give the Oilers a 2-1 lead heading into the second frame.

Anthony Radford, Alan Hansen and Don Fedus combined for three goals, which secured the Oilers’ win.


Huy Chau didn’t score for the Oilers, but he contributed a pair of assists.

Bret Roulston, Tyson Glass and Gibson Pearson each finished with one goal for the Mustangs. Despite the loss, members of the Mustangs still played well, firing 29 shots on the Oilers goal.


Scott Meredith and Bradley Koprowsky each chipped in two assists for the Mustangs.

Castlerock Ent. 8, Kwanlin Kanucks 8

Jeff O’Farell and Tanner Kulych each combined for six Castle Rock goals, while the team’s remaining scores were Dale Kulych and Gord Campbell.

Harley Bow scored twice for the Kanucks, while Kwanlin’s other goal producers were Jesse Bowe, James TomTom, Shawn Kolak, Kevin Smith, Rick Smith and James Dawson.

Denis Calbery finished with three assists for Kwanlin.
