The Yukon freestyle ski team continued to leave their mark on the British Columbia circuit, scoring some more impressive finishes in Prince George recently.

The territory swept the Big Air medal standings in the M2 Division (age 16 to 17) with Etienne Geoffroy taking first, Josh Harlow second, and Dylan Reed third, respectively.

Despite some controversial scoring in the slopestyle event, the trio also fared well, with Reed picking up his second consecutive third place finish.

Harlow took fifth, and Geoffroy finished seventh.

“Everyone was wondering who these Yukon kids were,” Yukon Freestyle Association president Lynda Harlow told the Star. “Our athletes are making a mark for themselves on the B.C. circuit.”

Lyndsey Boorse, the only female athlete in the event, narrowly missed third place in the Big Air event, and finished off the podium by less than one point. Boorse was able to pull off her first 360 in competition during her run.

She went on to place seventh in the slopestyle event.

“I really admire her spirit. It’s a tough sport and can be very intimidating but she loves it and always works hard to do her best,” Harlow said.

The team, which competed in Penticton, B.C., last month, is training to represent the territory at the junior nationals in Quebec, next month, followed by nationals in Calgary.
