It’s official, this is Cross Country Ski Week in Whitehorse!

Thanks to the City of Whitehorse for proclaiming today as “Emily Nishikawa’s Olympic Dream Day.”

The ski conditions continue to be very good, but use caution on all downhills as the tracks can be hard and icy. Control speed and when in doubt, walk down.

The World Cup 10-K and 5-K, Pierre Harvey, 7.5-K, Monique Waterreus, Olympic, 007, the lit trails and the stadium were groomed Monday night. Very good for classic
and skating.

The Ascent was renovated Monday night, but no track was set. Good for classic and skating. The Descent has not been groomed, but is skiable. Use caution as icy
conditions may be encountered.

Most other trails have been groomed in the past week and are very good for classic or skating.

Wax Suggestions: RODE Special Green. The tracks are still hard and icy. Grip wax will wear off quickly, so take wax and cork and re-apply as needed. Use Rode Green if more grip is needed.

With the Sochi Olympics underway, the excitement and anticipation here at the club is growing. Come join the fun and watch Emily Nishikawa’s first race in Sochi.

We are planning to watch the race on the big screen in the wax room this Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Waffles and coffee are being served starting at 9 a.m.
