The afterglow of last weekend’s Klondike Road Relay still shone bright for the 18 runners and walkers who participated in Tuesday’s Intersport 5 km Fun Run and Walk.

The weather Tuesday evening was likely a welcomed change after the often dreary weather during the road relay.

With all the young A-list runners tending to their post-road relay soreness, Tom Ullyett crossed the finish line first with a time of 19:58. He was pursued by road relay leg seven runner Preet Gill, who finished in 20:17.

Preet was followed by Ian Moore (21:27), Dan Macdonald (22:14) and Patrick Anderson (22:15).

The women’s side of the event saw the lone 5 km runner Theresa White Murray break the 30 minute mark with a time of 29:49.

Walking stalwart, Arlene Ogden, the fastest Yukon walker in her age category, and Tanya Astika, crossed the finish line together in 36:41.

The next events on the running calender are Thursday night’s weekly trail run at 6:30 p.m. on Grey Mountain.

The next big event is the Yukon Cross Country Running Championships on Sept. 26. See the Athletics Yukon website for details.
