YCCMA wraps up season with weekend-long event

The Schirmers enjoyed home track advantage at the Mosquito Harescramble II over the weekend, going 1-2 on the expert “A” course.

The Schirmers enjoyed home track advantage at the Mosquito Harescramble II over the weekend, going 1-2 on the expert “A” course.

Tim Schirmer completed the two-hour long techninal trail first with Sam Schirmer following in second. Julien Revel rounded out the podium in third.

Urs Schirmer was second in the intermediate “B” race.

Fourty-six racers from B.C. and the Yukon attended the weekend event, racing enduro-X heats Saturday to determining the start positions for Sunday’s harescramble.

It was the first time the Yukon Cross Country Motorcycle Association had organized a weekend full of racing events.

The harescramble featured a course for everyone.

“Each loop is designed to challenge the riders’ physical endurance, technical riding skills and navigation skills according to their class,” said race organizer Mike Beaman in an email.

It was the third and final race for the YCCMA this season.
