Over a day and a half of racing, Whitehorse Glacier Bears swimmers set three meet records at the Yukon Championships.
Thomas Gishler, in the boys 11-12 age group, posted a top time in the 100-metre butterfly, touching the wall in 1:23.95 during the preliminaries. He bested that again in the finals, with a time of 1:23.57.
Then in the 400 IM, he finished in 6:07.02.
In the boys 13-14 age group, Alex Petriw posted a meet record during the preliminaries for the 50 free, finishing in 27.33.
Despite only three clubs participating (host Glacier Bears, Haines Dolphins and one swimmer from the Campbell River Killer Whales), the local athletes did a good job pushing themselves, said head coach Malwina Bukszowana.
“The kids did well,” she said.
