After five games, the parity of the local gentlemen’s hockey league is on display.

Only three points separate the top teams from the bottom, with the Dirty Northern Muckers and yet-unsponsored Team 4 tied atop the Canyon City Hockey League (CCHL) standings with records of 2-1-2.

The SunLife Sundogs are in second at 2-2-1, followed by the Rapid Fire Raiders (1-2-2) and Trans North Helicopters (1-2-1).

On Wednesday, the Muckers salvaged a 3-3 tie with the Helicopters, thanks to goals from Colin Nickerson, Steve Fecteau and Crystal Beaudry.

Trans North scorers were Jordan Stevens, Nick Estrada and Darren Shipman.

That followed Monday night’s 4-2 victory by the Sundogs over the Raiders, powered by goals from Jaeson Henderson, Eric Clement, Matt Moffatt and Jordan Moore.

On Saturday, the CCHL Selects downed the Bantam Mustangs 7-3. Nickerson sniped a hat trick, while Moore scored twice.

Meanwhile, in local old-timer hockey action at Takhini Arena last night, Kilrich bested Medicine Chest 7-2 on the strength of a Ron Cruikshank hat trick.

Lawrence Crayford added a pair of goals in the victory, while Mike Rispin and Dave Bakica added singles.

Elgin Schwantz and Jeff O’Farrell responded for Medicine Chest.

After cruising to two straight wins, Medicine Chest is now back at .500.

In other action last night, EDI hammered Yukon Inn 6-1.

Charles Brodhagen scored twice in the win, with Gord Kuchler, Greg Charlie, Bryce Bekar and Blaine Demchuk also denting the twine.

Blayne Monahan had the lone marker for Yukon Inn.

Earlier in the week, the AON Flames beat the Air North Jets 9-4 thanks to a five-goal night by Gary McKellar, and Tim Hortons edged the Firth Rangers 5-4, with Warren Kapaniuk netting the game-winner.
