Squash finals set after Assante upsets Earls in semis

The foursome of Mark Tubman, Michael Tilbrook, Drew Osborne and Ben Grundmanis took down the league’s best regular season team by the slimmest of margins, edging Earls Restaurant 16-15 in one of two Div. 1 semifinals.
Assante will now face Aurora Geosciences in next week’s final, after Aurora downed Yukon Tree Services 16-14.
Aurora is led by Mustafa Syed and also includes Doug Thorseth, Marc Jubinville and Max Beauchamps.
In the final game of the season, Aurora hammered Assante 24-7. The two teams finished second and fourth respectively, separated by just six points in the standings.
Outside The Cube edged Better Bookkeeping 17-16 to earn fifth in the third game on Tuesday’s slate.
Meanwhile, in Div. 2 semifinal action last night, regular season winner Yukon Brewing defeated Coast High Country Inn 19-10 to earn a berth in next week’s final.
The team of Andre Benoit, Mattaeus Geisler, Everett Igobwa and Leif Austad finished the season 43 points ahead of Bluewave Energy, who they will face in next week’s championship game.
Yukon Brewing finished with 318 total points ahead of Bluewave’s 275.
Bluewave Energy defeated Riverstone Dental Clinic 19-11 last night in the second semifinal at Better Bodies Fitness.
With the victory, Sana Syed, Scott Burrell, Cathy MacDonald and Erika Joubert also punched their ticket to the final.
Electrical Shop defeated Sterling Insurance 18-12 to take fifth place in the Div. 2 league.
