The Yukon Quest 1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race is looking for a new executive director in the Yukon.

Laurie Parris resigned from her position following the 2015 race.

Parris had joined the Yukon Quest as executive director – Yukon in March 2014, replacing Marie Belanger.

Parris declined comment when reached yesterday by the Star.

“On behalf of the board of directors, I would like to thank Laurie for her time with the Yukon Quest,” said Michael Peterson, president of the Yukon board. “Her hard work and dedication to the race over the past year is appreciated.”

Peterson said he’s confident the board will find some strong candidates to fill the role, and that a new executive director will be in place before registration for the 2016 Yukon Quest opens in August.

Yukon Quest International, Ltd. will begin accepting applications for the position of executive director – Yukon immediately. The job posting is available on the race’s website.

The 33rd Yukon Quest begins Feb. 6, 2016 in Fairbanks.
