Forest Pearson cruised to a second consecutive orienteering victory last week at Yukon College.
Pearson bested Leif Blake in the expert category Wednesday night, crossing the line in 34:34, more than two minutes ahead of the runner-up.
Ross Burnett also garnered a second straight win in the advanced division, crossing the line more than four minutes ahead of Bob Sagar, who finished second.
The intermediate and novice categories both finished in ties.
Anne-Claude Letendre and Thomas Jacquin finished atop the intermediate leaderboard in 39:05, while Jean-Francois Blouin and Bryn Studney-Amon both finished the novice category in 42:58.
The meet went quite smoothly, said organizer Colin Abbott.
“Unlike my first time we didn’t have to organize a search party for a lost participant,” he told the Star. “And we didn’t have to deal with a rain storm and high winds.
“The turnout was fantastic as well. We had more than 70 people for this meet and hope to continue to see those numbers continue through the summer.”
The course featured more controls set over some quick terrain, forcing runners to make quick decisions and continuously read ahead, Abbott added.
Next up on the orienteering calendar is the sprint championships June 3, followed by the mid-distance championships June 10 and the long-distance finals June 17.
