A second disc golf course has been vandalized in the Yukon capital.

All 18 targets were discovered missing from the Solstice DiscGolfPark yesterday, a month after all targets were removed from the Takhini North Disc Golf Course.

The Solstice course is on the grounds of Yukon College.

Whitehorse Disc Golf Association president Ryan Norquay expressed his disappointment with the latest developments this morning.

“I’m completely baffled,” a dejected Norquay told the Star.

Norquay said winter disc golf enthusiasts have been playing the Solstice course regularly each week.

“Up until yesterday, it was the only spot we could play during the day in the winter.”

Norquay said the tonal targets at the Solstice course were temporary, not anchored into the ground.

“The course is not permanent,” he explained. “Eventually we were going to move the whole Solstice course to the new land when we get approval on that.”

The Yukon government recently awarded the group more than $14,000 for construction of a new course near Yukon College.

Norquay will report the latest incident to the RCMP, and hopes to issue a message to the public about the ecological friendliness of the sport.

Norquay said the likely course of action is replacement of the temporary tonal targets alongside some form of surveillance equipment.

“I’m grasping at straws for some clear answer,” he said. “Nobody’s come and taken responsibility. We continue to wonder.”
