Local cross-country skiers

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE – Local cross-country skiers from left: Knute Johnsgaard, Dahria Beatty and Emily Nishikawa skied in the first FIS cross-country world cup in Ruka, Finland last weekend. At the season opening world cup, Johnsgaard finished 69th in the sprint and 85th in 15K classic ski race. Beatty was the top Canadian woman Saturday, finishing the sprint in 50th. In Sunday’s 10K classic, Nishikawa was 59th, while Beatty was 74th. The World Cup tour now heads to Lillehammer, Norway. Photos by Nordic Focus
