Chuck Tobin’s rebound goal in the second period

By Whitehorse Star on March 27, 2015

Chuck Tobin’s rebound goal in the second period stood up as the eventual game-winner as EDI handed the league’s best old-timer team a playoff loss Wednesday.

The loss means Kilrich, 35-1-6 in the regular season, is on the brink in the double-elimination old-timer playoff format.

Jason Steele scored two goals and added an assist in EDI’s win, while Ed van Randen sniped a single.

Elgin Schwantz had both goals for Kilrich in the loss.

EDI and the Klondyke Dental Molars will square off in a semifinal battle Sunday night, with the winner earning a spot in the championship.

Kilrich still has an opportunity to win the playoff crown, but faces a much tougher road.

Kilrich will face Medicine Chest Sunday, with the victor squaring off against the winner of the Yukon Inn-Air North game, also Sunday, for a berth in the championship final scheduled for April 6.

The AON Flames and Firth Rangers have already suffered two losses each, and have been eliminated.
