Prince George, BC – The 2015 Canada Winter Games is proud to announce its 100 per cent Canadian artist line-up for the 2015 Canada Winter Games Coldsnap Festival. Featuring Juno and Peak Performance Project winners, this is the largest multicultural event to ever be hosted in northern B.C.

From Feb. 13 until March 1, over 60 music, theatre and visual artist groups, representing over 200 individual artists, will perform. The entertainment is presented by Treasure Cove Casino, with artists performing nightly on the BCLC Centre Stage at Canada Games Plaza from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

“In February 2015, an exciting line-up of artists, including Alan Doyle, Chad Brownlee, Classified, Radio Radio, Said the Whale, Tim Hicks and many more will perform in Prince George,” says Stuart Ballantyne, CEO of the 2015 Canada Winter Games. “The 2015 Canada Winter Games Coldsnap Festival features artists from every province and territory, from Nunavut’s Tanya Tagaq to Prince George’s very own Black Spruce Bog.”

All 2015 Canada Winter Games Coldsnap Festival entertainment is free to the public and 40 per cent of the artists performing are from northern B.C.

“2015 Canada Winter Games Coldsnap Festival is a multi-disciplinary festival. We are grateful of the support we received from so many groups to help deliver this, including the Department of Canadian Heritage, the Province of British Columbia, BCLC and Treasure Cove Casino,” says Ballantyne. “From theatre to funk, Aboriginal and francophone musicians, children’s artists to throat singing, an impressive array of performers will entertain Prince George residents, 2015 Games participants and visitors at Games time.”

“Our Government is pleased to support the 2015 Canada Winter Games Coldsnap Festival, a flagship event that not only adds to Prince George's artistic and tourism offerings, but also brings together some of our best and brightest Canadian talent,” says the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages. “We are committed to investing in creativity to foster the growth of our artists, artisans and communities, while giving Canadians access to outstanding cultural experiences, like the 2015 Canada Winter Games Coldsnap Festival.” “Congratulations to all the talented artists highlighting the 2015 Canada Winter Games Coldsnap Festival. The exciting all-Canadian line-up will help the 2015 Games present a successful cultural component,” says Coralee Oakes, Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development. “The Government of British Columbia is a proud supporter of arts and culture at the 2015 Games, providing $150,000 specifically to help BC’s diverse artists, including First Nations, participate in the cultural festival.”

“BCLC and Treasure Cove Casino are proud to support Prince George and northern BC communities in making the 2015 Canada Winter Games a resounding success,” says BCLC interim president and CEO Jim Lightbody. “Providing exceptional entertainment is at the core of our business and we are thrilled with the opportunity to help present this exciting line-up of Canadian musicians at the BCLC Centre Stage.”

“When Canada Games Plaza was re-envisioned, the idea was to provide a space of celebration for the community and a gathering place where everyone could enjoy live entertainment both during the 2015 Canada Winter Games and beyond,” says Prince George Mayor Lyn Hall. “The artists performing during the 2015 Canada Winter Games Coldsnap Festival reflect the diversity of our country; bringing together a vibrant mix of musical styles while celebrating homegrown talent.”
