A man is being sought in connection with putting more than $300 worth of purchases on a lost credit card.

On Sept. 13, the suspect was reported to have visited various downtown businesses, using the tap function to make make purchases, Whitehorse RCMP said over the weekend. He used a card that had been lost earlier in the day.

The card’s owner discovered the purchases when she contacted the credit card company to report her missing card.

The male suspect was seen wearing sunglasses, a black ball hat with “Compton” written on it, a black long-sleeved “Sons of Anarchy” shirt and a chain wallet. He was also carrying a camouflage backpack.

Anyone with information on him is asked to call the police at 667-5555.

Seriously that's great they are trying to find out who used the stolen credit card. But a couple years ago my credit card was skimmed in town and they made a duplicate. They spent about 500.00 at shoppers where they tried to scan different amounts through checkout about 8 different times with a fake card because he was maxing out the limit, and shoppers didn't not find it suspicious. And riverside variety who after visiting stated they had camera, and could only give the police the tape, but when I contacted the police they were super lazy about it. I kept contacting the cop handling my case for a month, he kept saying he was too busy, finally after a month riverside had deleted the tape. The police decided well no big deal it was probably someone from out of town skimming, and they had probably already left, instead of trying to find out who it was or put a warning out for residences about keeping their cards safe. Furthermore, no one had any interest in making a story about it to find the person. Instead I just posted on facebook to warn people. I'm happy they are trying to find out who it was yet at the same time I am a bit P.O'd that nobody wanted to do anything when a similar occurrence happened to me.

Lots of people will know who this dude is.. but will lots of people turn him in? Not likely.

Criminals support each other. When this goes to court all they have is a picture of a man with a bag. He'll pass off the goods bought with the credit card to either friends or a fence so the RCMP won't get any 'evidence' on him. Most criminals know how to milk the system and have the support of friends and family for their criminal activity. Thats how they get away with so much of it.

Has anyone else noticed the attempt of thieves to "nice" up their activities? I read not long ago where a thief breaking into and stealing from a vehicle is now called a "kid that is car shopping".

Good reason not to have tap function on your card if he had to put in a PIN # things would have been different

A "Compton" ball cap and SOA shirt... even sporting the chain wallet.

What a poser. Someone who reads this article knows him... needs to be turned into the fashion police before the RCMP.

Why do these nuts always advertise their criminal character? Why not just wear a sign that says, "I'm a criminal and I'm on duty". And as for the owner of the card, he/she will never see the money returned or any justice. Knowing our lame justice system, I'm sure this dude is shaking in his boots.
