An undeclared firearm was seized at the Whitehorse airport on Wednesday morning.

Just before 5 a.m., Whitehorse RCMP responded to the Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport after a man attempted to board a plane to Vancouver with the firearm in his checked luggage. It was not loaded.

Abdirizak Mohamed Sahal, 31, was arrested.

He was charged with the unauthorized possession of a firearm and tampering with a serial number on a firearm.

He appeared in territorial court Wednesday afternoon and has been remanded into custody pending his next court appearance.

Hey Matt...no kidding eh. Except you may have offended some members of the forest, certain trees have rights now...FRT (forest rights tribunal) case coming down the pipe? Seriously though, even if from birth you never went to any school and only watched the Simpsons ones entire life...you would know the stupidity in this.

BnR some truth to your points, but do not dismiss the jihad joe concern so quick.
Kinda reads to this hillbilly as an apologist thing for the camel in the room.

My previous comment didn't make it past the censor, so I will generalize.

Google the fella, and you will find much about a long track of related incidents. This guy isn't an angel nor is his chosen company. They have been causing serious problems in Alberta for a long time now.

In Nov 2013 CTV News in Edmonton reported on a group of drug dealers including one Abdirizak Sahal, age 26, being arrested in an RCMP raid in Fort McMurray - cocaine and handguns with filed off serial numbers.

If this is same dude, doubt he is reformed and just up here visiting to see the northern lights. The real uneasy feeling is that he and his gang are most likely up here freely operating and flooding our territory with dangerous hard drugs and violent acts. Not good. Let's hope he's not walking our streets ever again and the rest of the gang and enablers get arrested or run out of the territory.

I hope the complete list of charges is reported to the public. Attempting to remove or alter a serial number on a firearm is a criminal offence.

An uneasy feeling? Naw. Drug related. More likely to get hit by a motorist on their cell phone than to be involved in drug related firearm offences.

There's certain information in this report that tells me this whole thing will end up in the pooper. I think the Federal Libs recently legislated a law that will take care of this one.
