Dog’s fate is bounding into a courtroom

A dispute over a dog has landed in Yukon Small Claims Court.

A dispute over a dog has landed in Yukon Small Claims Court.

Jonathan Alsberghe claims that his dog, Marathon, has been taken without his permission and he is worried about its care.

In his statement of claim, Alsberghe says he is concerned his dog will be neglected and exposed to “irrational and potentially violent behaviours.”

Alsberghe is asking for a court order to locate his dog and have Marathon be put into the care of a third party until a final ruling has been made in the case.

“I am not looking for any financial compensation, I am just looking to recover my dog and to keep on caring for it,” Alsberghe said.

Alsberghe’s application for the order will be heard in small claims court on Thursday afternoon.

This dog stayed at my kennel on 3 separate occasions. The person who provided the care instructions, signed the boarding contract, dropped the dog off, picked him up, wrote on FB for updates as to how his dog was doing and paid for the stay, was Jonathon Alsbergh.
