A trial date has been set for a former Whitehorse taxi driver accused of sexually assaulting two women.

Jaspal Singh Tamber will be heading to trial on one of the counts of sexual assault on Feb. 4-8, 2019.

It will be a judge and jury trial, with jury selection taking up the first day.

Tamber is not in custody, but out on a recognizance order.

The second count of sexual assault has been dealt with through a peace bond signed May 9.

The bond’s conditions dictate that Tamber keep the peace, be on good behaviour, have no contact with the complainant and not drive a taxi for six months. The peace bond will expire in one year.

Both charges originated from two separate incidents on Sept. 29, 2017.

Both women accused Tamber of sexually assaulting them while they were passengers in his cab.

Tamber was arrested a week later, on Oct. 3, 2017.

Perhaps a consistent behavior issue of drivers of one company should compel removal of operating authority?

Why is the Court date so far away. Our Daycare system must be getting full. Also no big rush because he likely doesn't have money for lawyers and that is really what it is all about.

Wait a minute. A sexual assault which occurred in his cab is dealt with through a no contact and he can't drive a cab for six months?
